A Brief Overview of Kappa Theta Epsilon Sorority History
The political climate of the last decade played a large role in the creation of Kappa Theta Epsilon. The constantly negative portrayal of lesbians and gays in mainstream media during that period, and the emergence of same-sex marriage as a recurring political issue drove our Founder to look for a medium to create change.
The Sorority was founded on the morning of February 24th. The Sorority’s mission, as the Founder envisioned it, would be to serve the community through social and political activism while embracing sisterhood as its primary aim.
Kappa Theta Epsilon became the first social service Sorority for professional and entrepreneurial Lesbian women.
Today, the Sorority proudly exemplifies our mission through philanthropy, political activism, and plans for expansion to other areas. We have strategically planned to expand aim toward a global focus in yeard to come, in order to empower the LGBT community worldwide.
